Boys begin homeschooling

The boys finished out their first semester at school and today begins our first day of homeschooling! A lot went into our decision to homeschool. Prior to having children, I always thought I would homeschool. Sadly, I felt too overwhelmed and intimidated to take on the challenge. But after feeling out-of-place in a school that should have been everything we wanted, it seemed the long-overdue correct choice.

In order to ease our transition (both mine and the boys), I chose Griggs as our homeschool curriculum. Many of the books are the same as they were using in school, so we can pick up where they left off. The curriculum is completely laid out by days, so there is not much in the way of planning for me.

May God bless our efforts!

The Tortoise and the Hare...

My youngest son brought me this book to read to him yesterday, and I couldn't help but think of our own life as I was reading the story. We have been hares for so long - busy and always on the move; racing around trying to take part in every activity under the sun and seeing who can collect the most toys. Our race should be all about living for God and sharing His love with everyone we encounter. We often, like the hare, get distracted from what's really important in life - winning God's race. It is my prayer that I can be slow and steady - and win the most important race of all!

I have decided to start this blog as a way to document our journey. Thanks for joining in! :)

About Me

I am a homeschooling mom of 4 amazing children, each unique in their abilities, needs and personalities. I started this blog through my burning desire for my family to "live simply for God." For me this has two-fold meaning: to live simply; and to live for God.

Join me on our journey to simplifying our life. And a journey it is! :)
